How the new Facebook algorithm will impact businesses
At the start of this year Facebook announced, yet again, another set of algorithm changes, known as Facebook Zero, which will dramatically change the way brands exist and interact on the platform.
Facebook revealed there would be a significant focus on prioritising content in newsfeeds and would be creating more meaningful social interactions, lead by user demand.
“You’ll see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media. And the public content you see more will be held to the same standard, it should encourage meaningful interactions between people,” said Mark Zuckerberg in a statement addressing the change.
This algorithmic adjustment may have most businesses and brands concerned by the potential drop in organic reach and resulting damage to social actions and engagement. But before you panic, there are also opportunities that come with this change that you need to be aware of.
This Facebook change means that those who create high quality, credible and interactive content and communicate effectively to their Facebook fans will be positioned well above any of their competition. This is a consistency that never seems to change and is worth investing in to get it right, as authenticity shines in content marketing. Furthermore, it will also create far more relevant interactions and opportunities with consumers for your business.
Also, the change offers a golden opportunity to explore other channels that are doing well and benefit B2B businesses. Namely, email marketing, better performing websites and LinkedIn, which consistently prove fruitful in this arena.
According to a recent B2B report from the Content Marketing Institute’s ‘… LinkedIn commands a massive 97% of B2B marketers who take social media action, almost double the number reported in 2010.’
With over 530 million users, LinkedIn is an effective platform to share content that is directed at businesses and executives and has developed a reputation for being a trustworthy source of relevant information.
